Title: Pov students
Post by: Da Prez on March 18, 2007, 07:38:51 PM
Reports came out last week how poor students really are. It's not really a shocker, because, you guessed it, we are pretty pov. No wonder, considering how much living expenses are, mixed with it being pretty damn hard to find a job, and austudy (if you can even get it) being below the poverty line. I don't understand why students aren't rioting over their conditions. The reports showed we get $4k a year in debt (not including HECS), work on average 14.8 hours a week, and regularly miss classes and generally sacrafice grades for an extra buck to pay for food or bills. The Fed Government reckons we get it easy, and should just cut down on 'excessive living'. It'd be good to hear what you think, and what your experiences are...

Hey Da Prez,
I read this article too and I agree completely with you, it is absolutely unfathomable how the government and good old Johnny Howard think that students are living comfortably and with money to splurge. I wish I had excess living to cut down on, let alone have any to enjoy. Thank god a report like this has finally come out, that shows the truth and how tough it really can be as a student!
