New group looks to tap into Moe potential
Friday, 18 May 2007. 14:04 (AEST)Friday, 18 May 2007. 14:04 (ACST)Friday, 18 May 2007. 11:04 (AWST)

A group of Latrobe Valley businessmen and residents have formed a new organisation to promote the township of Moe.

'Invest Moe' aims to attract new residential and commercial investors by promoting Moe as a premier activity centre.

Spokesman Brad Law says a major feature of the plan is to encourage Latrobe City Council to open up pockets of land around the town for development.

He says Moe has untapped potential and needs to shake free the ghosts of the past.

"There's no doubt that Moe hasn't received great publicity in the past, we're no different to any other town in any other community within Australia - we've just got to look forward and move with the positive direction," he said.

"We believe that the advantages of the town far outweigh the minor negatives that have happened in the past."

I've heard they've considered changing the name to Moet. This seems like they're trying to take away the bad name a little too literally...
