National Reciprocal Borrowing Scheme –for the benefit of its off campus students Monash is involved in a National Reciprocal Borrowing Scheme. This means that Monash students are able to borrow books and use the resources of university libraries throughout Australia. 39 universities are currently involved in this scheme which means there may be one near you. You need to register with an institution before you can start borrowing – upon presentation of photo ID and proof of enrolment - and a few institutions charge a $50 annual registration fee. Libraries operating under the scheme will advise you of the borrowing privileges available. You should note that electronic databases and internet access are generally not available to students outside their home institution and that if fines are incurred these may be pursued by your home institution. For more information visit www.lib.monash.edu.au/services or www.caul.edu.au/ula/participants.html

CAVAL -The CAVAL Reciprocal Borrowing Program is a long standing scheme for Victorian tertiary students which allows them to borrow in person from the collections of University and TAFE libraries of which they are not ordinarily members. Using the Coolcat reference catalogue you can search all Victorian academic, reference and government libraries for material. Register for a CAVAL card through the Monash library.
