Getting to Victoria. Travelling to Gippsland, Clayton and Caulfield campuses of Monash University.

Getting to Victoria
Flights are available to Melbourne from most international and domestic airlines (www.qantas.com.au or www.virginblue.com.au). Skybus transfers from the airport give access to extensive metropolitan and country train services at Spencer St station (www.skybus.com.au). Train services to Victoria operate from all mainland states (www.victrip.com.au). Bus travel may be the only transport available from more remote locations and tends to be the cheapest option (www.buslines.com.au).

Gippsland campus
From Spencer St station take a V-Line train on the Bairnsdale line to Morwell (www.vlinepassenger.com.au). A return trip is around $40. The campus is located in Churchill, approximately 15 kilometres from Morwell. A discounted campus taxi service is available with limited availability at weekends. Contact MUGSU for more information on 1800 816 620 – bookings are made direct through the Churchill Taxi service (51221000). There is also a busline service within the Latrobe Valley that services all surrounding towns and Monash Gippsland regularly. Go to: http://www.lvbl.com.au  for more information.

Students driving to campus should use the Princes Hwy, which traverses Victoria coming from Sydney through to Melbourne via the coast. Turnoffs to Monash and Churchill are well signposted from the highway. Parking at Gippsland campus is free.

Clayton campus
Located about 20 kilometres from central Melbourne. Takes about half an hour by Met train on the Dandenong, Pakenham or Cranbourne line trains to Huntingdale station. The Clayton campus is about 5 kilometres from Clayton itself and is closer to Huntingdale station. Buses for campus leave every 15-20 minutes or a taxi will cost around $15. Make sure you purchase a ticket before using public transport in Melbourne. It uses the Metcard system and requires you to validate your ticket before boarding or upon entering the platform. Fines are enforced even if you are from out of state. If driving take the Monash Freeway (formerly the South Eastern Arterial) towards Dandenong. The turnoff to Monash is signposted. The main entry is located near the corner of Wellington Rd and the Princes Hwy. Parking at Clayton generally costs and there is a system of coloured bays for permit holders. On weekends and semester breaks however it is free to park.

Caulfield campus
Located 10 kilometres from central Melbourne and is very close to Clayton campus. It can be reached easily by train which takes around 20 minutes. Take the Cranbourne, Dandenong, Frankston or Pakenham lines to reach Caulfield. The campus is located directly opposite the train station. Make sure you purchase a ticket before using public transport in Melbourne. It uses the Metcard system and requires you to validate your ticket before boarding or upon entering the platform. Fines are enforced even if you are from out of state. Driving to Caulfield? The campus is located just off the Monash Freeway (also called Dandenong Rd). The turnoff is well signposted. The main entry is located off Sir John Monash Drive. Parking is not available at the Caulfield campus itself although you can park in the surrounding streets or an adjoining shopping centre car park for limited periods.

Note: Off Campus students are not eligible for travel concessions in Victoria even if studying a fulltime load. For more information contact MUGSU at This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it
