We are here for your benefit!
Hi my name is Tameka I have been elected as your Welfare Director with Monash University Gippsland Student Union (MUGSU). I am drawn to this course of study and position through my personal beliefs and life experiences; these direct my ambition to ensure equality and access for all students and to ensure all students are empowered to partake in the full university experience. This is not just academic; the university experience also includes the development of lasting friendships, connections and networks as well as building upon our personal lives and experiences. As part of my role I convene a collective of students that wish to participate in the running of events and campaigns. The union runs many events to allow students the opportunity to unwind and socialise, to share experiences and to build supports. As well as these events the welfare collective runs campaigns to ensure equity and access to university facilities and services. We also come together to investigate avenues to campaign issues outside of the university. These may include youth affairs, housing, income and employment. If you have any concerns or an interest in welfare (through studies or personal) or you wish to have a message and I will get back to you at my first convenience. Alternatively, keep an eye out for me on campus during O-week and throughout the year.
